Cllr. Aline Hicks
Councillor Of Kingsnorth Village
Term of Office: May 2019 - Present
Social Profiles
When I moved to Stubbs Cross in 1983, Kingsnorth was a lovely quiet rural village, which was well before the expansion of urban Ashford.
Since then the expansion of Ashford Town has brought many new housing estates to the village. I see my role in two parts.
Firstly to mitigate the effects of housing developments by ensuring that everybody has access to green areas, so they can enjoy the countryside and have attractive green corridors giving good connectivity between areas. Also to improve the road infrastructure so that our routes are safe for all road users
Secondly I would like us to better welcome new residents on the new estates so that they can become integrated into our local community, as we have many focal hubs such as the Village Hall, the Recreation Centre, the Sports Pavilion, the Mission Hall as well as two Primary Schools and the John Wallis Academy.
I have been working on behalf of the community for many years and been pleased to see that the Parish Council is listened to by many authorities.
I designed the Village Sign and was on the parish council when we negotiated for the land now know as the village green to be handed over to the parish council.
Also was part of the team which secured the buffer zone between Church Hill and Park Farm, at Planning appeal. This in now known as the Conservation Fields and provides a valuable open space within the Parish.
