Kingsnorth Community Resilience Plan
Why this matters?
Emergencies like flooding, storms, prolonged power cuts or severe heatwaves don’t wait. While emergency services do their vital work, there may be times when they can’t reach us immediately. Our Community Resilience Plan helps us — residents, local volunteers, and Kingsnorth Parish Council — stay organised, responsive and safe in those critical early hours.
What is the Plan?
- It maps local risks (e.g. flood zones, vulnerable homes)
- It sets out how the parish can assist until wider emergency support arrives
- It identifies emergency resources (shelters, contact points, volunteers)
- It links our efforts with Ashford Borough Council’s emergency planning
How this works in practice
If an incident occurs, the Community Response Centre (based at Kingsnorth Sports Pavilion) becomes a focal hub for coordination, information sharing, and supporting vulnerable residents. Local volunteers may help with welfare checks, distributing supplies, or managing community info points — always in coordination with professional responders.
