Have Your Say – Ashford Local Plan 2042 Consultation

Ashford Borough Council is currently consulting on the draft Local Plan 2042, and this is your chance to have your say on how our borough – including Kingsnorth – will grow and develop over the coming years.

The Local Plan is a vital document that sets out a vision for future housing, jobs, infrastructure, and protecting our environment. Once adopted, it will be the framework used to decide planning applications across the borough until at least 2042.

Why does this matter?

The Local Plan will influence:

  • Where new housing developments are built, and what types of homes are provided
  • How local employment needs are met and how the economy grows
  • What new schools, health facilities, transport links and community spaces are planned
  • How our countryside, green spaces, and heritage are protected
  • What measures are taken locally to tackle climate change

Consultation dates

The consultation runs for eight weeks:
📅 From Monday 18 August 2025, 9am
📅 Until Monday 13 October 2025, 5pm

How to get involved

Every resident can be affected by the Local Plan, so it’s important your voice is heard. You can:

  • Read the draft plan and supporting documents online
  • Share your views through the official consultation portal
  • Attend one of the in-person drop-in events being held across the borough in September

Why your views matter

Without an up-to-date Local Plan, councils have less power to stop inappropriate or poorly planned development. This consultation is your opportunity to help shape Kingsnorth and the wider borough for the next 15+ years.

Kingsnorth Parish Council encourages all residents to take part and share their views.
